Founded in 1973, Translation Department of Tianjin Institute of Scientific and Technical Information (TISTI) is located in Tianjin, one of the four municipalities in China, and 100 km away from the capital of Beijing. Affiliated to Tianjin Municipal Science and Technology Commission and as one of the earliest-founded institutes which specialize on scientific and technical translation in China, the Translation Department is a professional scientific and technical information service institute assigned by many government departments and non-government organizations. In order to develop and expand relevant business, the Translation Department has established cooperative partnership with Hongkong Jianhua Foundation.
With twenty years’ rich experience of translation, the Translation Department has formed an excellent and professional team which covers such following field of science and technology as finance, law, chemical industry, machinery, electronics, petrochemical industry, biology, medicine, engineering, material, environment, energy, metallurgy, telecommunication, geology, automobile, electric power, paper making, shipping, food, real estate, computer etc. More than 100 companies and scientific research institutes located in the coastal economic area around Bohai Sea have received our service. We have built up stable and long-term cooperation relationship with many world famous enterprises such as P&G and Honeywell and have provided whole-course written translation service for the anti-dumping case between Tianjin United Tire & Rubber International Co. LTD and U.S. Department of Commerce. We produce a translating quantity of tens of millions of words every year and the translated language include English, German, French, Japanese, Russian, Belgium, Portuguese, Hungarian, Spanish, Korean, and Southeastern Asia languages such as Thai and Burmese.
In Translation Department, there are 15 professional translators with academic background of science and engineering from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Nankai University, National Marine Data and Information Service, Agricultural Information Institute of Tianjin Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Tianjin Institute of Pharmaceutical Research, Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital etc., providing professional translation and proofreading service. Besides, we have engaged many foreign experts as consultants to guarantee high quality target texts.
All the full-time translators in our department are well equipped with high performance Dell computers, advanced scanner, printer, disc recorder and broadband access. Our translation service includes editing, art design, typesetting and copying, printing and publishing. The experts and translators in our department are skilled at all windows operating platforms, office software and other drawing, typesetting and designing software such as Photoshop, Freehand, Framemaker, Pagemaker, Acrobat and CorelDarw. Any character set, like TXT, ANSI, Unicode, UTF-7, UTF-8, can be processed smoothly. Besides, we can freely convert multi-language PDF files to other file format or vice versa to satisfy various requirements from our customers.
